The development at York Place included the demolition of a former retail warehouse and the construction of 254 new homes along with the new purpose-built headquarters of The Royal Academy of Dance. Designed by Architects Patel Taylor, the aim of the scheme was to create a mixed use building which contributes to the community on both local and cultural levels. Cordek supplied the Cellcore HX and Heaveguard to combat the effects of ground heave on the foundations.

A combination of 4500m2 of Cellcore 160mm HX S 9/13 and 1040 Linear metres of Cellcore 155mm HX B 18/24 and 1400m2 of 50mm thick Heaveguard was installed by the appointed sub-contractor J Reddingtons to meet the requirements for medium heave potential.
