Sarah
Distribution Manager
Sarah started working at Cordek in 2019, joining us as Transport Coordinator for the Operations Department. Prior to coming to Cordek, Sarah worked for a furniture manufacturer; working within the final stage of manufacturing, where she re-organised their fleet operations alongside gaining her qualification as a FORS Practitioner and her CPC.
As Cordek’s Transport Coordinator, Sarah’s role involved route planning for all vehicles, ensuring documentation for VOSA requirements, government legislation and FORS were compliant, and assisting with the vehicle inspections. In 2021, Sarah was promoted to Distribution Manager and has since become solely responsible for managing Cordek’s delivery fleet and Warehouse Team, ensuring that Cordek continues to meet delivery deadlines and customer expectations.
What Sarah says
"Cordek has allowed me to utilise my experience and qualifications along with expanding my knowledge within other areas of the business. I have gained confidence in my field and am supported by a team of colleagues who all work well together"
Alyson
Technical Operative
Alyson joined the Cordek team in 2022 as a Technical Operative – level 1. He has been committed to learning as much as possible through on-the-job training and attending external courses. His most recent course: Steam Plant Fundamentals (D6S), has allowed him to improve his knowledge in how to operate our steam boiler systems safely and efficiently. After demonstrating competence in operating both our injection moulding machines and our steam systems, Alyson has now been promoted to Technical Operative – level 2.
What Alyson says:
“I absolutely love working for Cordek, the Moulding department is the best place I’ve ever worked. My co-workers are friendly and always willing to help. My manager has always supported me by arranging external and internal training to improve my understanding of the machines so I can progress”.
Jamie
Production Manager
Jamie joined Cordek as Distribution Manager in 2019. In this role he managed the Transport team and developed several new procedures, helping Cordek to enhance its logistic capabilities. As a result of his success within this position, his hard work, and passion for learning; Jamie has progressed in his career at Cordek and has now taken on the new role of Production Manager. Jamie continues to expand his knowledge and skills, whilst also studying for his Business Management degree.
What Jamie says:
"What I like most about career development at Cordek is the support you’re given. My Line Manager has provided outstanding support, without micromanaging. This has especially been the case whilst I transition into my new role, allowing me to learn from my experiences and grow into my role with confidence.”
Thomas
Yard Foreman
Having previously worked for an international airline, operating from one of the UK’s largest airports, where he oversaw the safety and security of the crew and aircraft, Thomas joined Cordek in 2021 to help expand the transport department. Thomas was offered the opportunity to obtain his Level 2 HGV Licence and, with the support of Cordek, became a fully qualified HGV driver. Fast forward to 2024, Thomas has now progressed into becoming our Yard Foreman. Thomas is now responsible for managing and supervising inbound and outbound goods, maintaining an accurate stock record, and ensuring company products have been loaded correctly and on time to ensure our customers are left satisfied with their orders.
What Thomas says:
"Having Cordek help with my training and studies for my course really made a difference. I was able to gain my qualification in the time I expected, and it was reassuring to have a job waiting for me at the end of it. What I enjoy most about my job is the variety; each day is different, and I enjoy working with the team at Cordek.”
